Between Sandnessjoen and Bronnoysund lies the island of Vega. This wonderful cultural landscape was inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2004. The basis of the status is the Islanders outstanding tradition of keeping wild eider ducks as pets. The trip goes through a myriad of islands to the old fishing village Nes on Vega. The tour includes a visit to the E - house museum. Here you are taken on a journey into the islands eider industry, building nests and small e - houses, protection of bird brooding, harvesting and purifying the precious eiderdown. If you want you can try to clean down and you get to feel a real down duvet. In the World Exhibition you will hear the story of why Vega received World Heritage status and how this status has affected the local community. After an eventful day, you sail through the idyllic Helgeland coast to Bronnoysund.
