EXCURSION HIGHLIGHTS

The Lofoten Islands are known for excellent fishing, extreme and wild nature and small fishing villages. During the trip from Svolvaer to Stamsund, it might surprise you to also find sheltered bays, white sandy beaches, fjords and large, green farmland this far north.

Art and history in perfect harmony

The scenery, the special light and the fishing have attracted artists from both Norway and abroad for centuries. Galleri Lofotens Hus is situated in a former fish-processing house in Henningsvaer. Enjoy an exhibition with more than hundred exceptional paintings from the most prominent Lofoten artists, with paintings from the islands and the Lofoten fishing industry. In addition you find an enthralling presentation of the Lofoten islands fisheries from the 1900s, a multimedia show depicting the archipelago's unique beauty and wildness throughout the four seasons. From the art souvenir shop you can buy something as a memory to take back home.

Kaviar and contemporary art

The KaviarFactory is a landmark at the entrance of Henningsvaer. The ocean literally washes the facade of the old brick house with north-westerly winds. What used to be a caviar factory is today an international venue for contemporary art. Get surprised, get touched and be captivated by an exhibition mixing photos, paintings and installations.
