GREENLAND TO CHURCHILL VIA NUNAVUT

Navigating north from Kangerlussuaq along Greenland’s old inter-coastal routes, we indulge in the multitude of natural wonders. We will experience many classic highlights during our voyage, including “The Iceberg Capital” of Ilulissat and the nearby UNESCO-protected Icefjord, the beautiful basalt mountains and the amazing calving glacier of Eqip Sermia in Disko Bay. The glacier is one of the most active in Greenland, with a high likelihood of seeing and hearing ice cascade into the ocean below. Leaving Greenland and the town of Uummannaq behind, we cross the Davis Strait to reach Iqaluit, the capital of the vast Inuit Nation of Nunavut (‘Our Land’) in Northern Canada. As we slip between Baffin Island and Labrador into the mighty Hudson Bay, we will visit some of the picturesque Inuit settlements of this rugged tundra. We will stop in Cape Dorset on Baffin Island, known worldwide for its wealth of Inuit drawings, prints and soapstone carvings. Coats Island (Coral Harbour) seasonally hold 30,000 falcons, murres, and gulls in its vast nesting cliffs. We can also expect to see a concentration of walrus at the cliff base, as well as polar bears, seals and whales before arriving in our final port of call – Churchill.
