Across the Northwest Passage
In the footsteps of explorers

Traversing from Kangerlussuaq in Greenland to Nome in Alaska, you'll encounter wild and remote fjords, glaciers, harbours and uninhabited islands that dot the archipelago of Canada's High Arctic. Marvel at the pristine landscapes that are worlds away from modern civilisation

A sensory day of cruising awaits as you cross Baffin Bay's biologically rich waters, which only become navigable in August when the summer temperatures climb above zero. Join the Discovery Team on deck to keep watch for the elusive beluga whales.

Day 6 - Pond Inlet
On Baffin Island, at the mouth of the famous Northwest Passage lies a small Inuit settlement. Pond Inlet is surrounded by spectacular snow-capped mountains, fjords and glaciers, and your exploration of this remote region will leave long lasting memories.

Discovery: Scenic Discovery excursions by Zodiac, kayak and onshore landings.

Day 7 - Beechey Island
Beechey Island was the winter camp for the ill-fated 1845 Franklin Expedition. The final resting place of three of Sir John Franklin’s crew, it has served as the base camp for much of the exploration of the Northwest Passage.
Discovery: Scenic Discovery excursions by Zodiac, kayak and onshore landings.

Day 8 - Northwest Passage
Exciting days lie ahead as you venture into the Northwest Passage, navigating delicately through the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. Connecting the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific, this once impassable route is a place where few are lucky enough to have travelled. From John Cabot to James Cook and Sir John Franklin, many explorers set out to take this fabled journey and failed. On board Scenic Eclipse you will go further than these intrepid explorers were ever able to. Due to the extraordinary nature of this very remote Arctic region, our route is dependent on the ice and weather conditions. Our experienced Captain and Discovery Leaders will use their expertise to design your voyage from day to day, with each day a highlight.
Discovery: Scenic Discovery excursions by Zodiac, kayak and onshore landings for nature walks and visits to remote communities.

Days 9-14 - Northwest Passage
Traverse the Northwest Passage and take a range of discovery excursions dependent on the weather and ice conditions.

Day 15 - Franklin Bay
Discover Franklin Bay, a large inlet at the southern arm of the Amundsen Gulf.

Discovery: Scenic Discovery excursions by Zodiac, kayak and onshore landings.

Day 16 - Herschel Island
Sitting on the edge the Beaufort Sea, north of Canada’s Yukon Territory, Herschel Island was first inhabited by the Thule, ancestors of the Inuit.

Day 17 - Herschel Island

Day 19 - Bering Strait
Traverse the Chukchi Sea to the Bering Strait. Linking the Arctic and Pacific Oceans, this narrow waterway is only 82 kilometres at its widest point. Alaska and the USA are port side and the Chukotka region in Russia starboard, with the closest point between the two countries, less than seven kilometres.

Day 20 - Bering Strait
Continue cruising the Bering Strait.

Day 21 - Nome - Anchorage
Disembark and farewell your crew. Later fly to Anchorage, taking away memories of a truly unforgettable experience. Please book your flight to depart after 11pm.
